The edit field (MessageRow.tsx:815-828) is a single-line <input> whose onBlur (line 827) cancels the edit. Clicking anywhere else - including the scrollbar or another window - silently discards what was typed. There is no "escape to cancel • enter to save" hint, and an empty edit is sent as-is.
Fix: blur keeps the editor open; Escape cancels and Enter saves (with a visible hint); an empty edit asks whether to delete the message. (The editor itself becoming multi-line is part of the editing feature issue.)

Fixed with the editing work in #300: the inline editor no longer cancels when it loses focus (clicking elsewhere keeps it open; Escape cancels, Enter saves), it has a visible "escape to cancel · enter to save" hint, and saving an empty edit asks whether to delete the message instead of sending an empty one.
