Both fall through the catch-all _ => {} at backend/irc.rs:739. Outgoing works — /op, /deop, /voice, /kick, /ban all send correctly — but nothing inbound is read.
Two consequences:
Ranks are only ever as accurate as the moment you joined. The member list is built from RPL_NAMREPLY and then maintained by JOIN/PART/QUIT/NICK. An op given or taken after that is silently missed, so the nick list quietly drifts out of date and stays that way.
Being kicked produces nothing. No message, no system line, and the buffer sits there looking joined until you try to speak.
This is also acknowledged in the source at irc.rs:162-166.
Done looks like: a MODE arm applying rank changes to the roster and emitting a system line, and a KICK arm that reports it and removes the buffer when the target is you.
