IRC: no WHOIS, WHO or WHOWAS - there is no way to look anyone up #88

Clicking a nick offers moderation and a query, and nothing that says who they are. grep -in whois nobilis/src/backend/irc.rs returns nothing: the numerics (311/312/317/318/319, 352/315, 314/369) are never sent and never parsed.

Every IRC client has this, and it is how you tell two people with similar nicks apart, find out whether somebody is identified to services, or see which channels you share.

Done looks like: /whois and a userlist entry that opens the reply as a readable card - idle time, account, real name, channels, server - plus /who for a channel and /whowas for somebody who has left.

Finished — and it grew past WHOIS on the way.

The numerics are sent and parsed (311, 312, 313, 317, 319, ending at 318, plus 314/369 for WHOWAS), gathered into one answer rather than printed line by line. A numeric for somebody nothing asked about is dropped, so another client on the same bouncer cannot make this open a window.

What draws it is now a profile card for every service, not an IRC one: right-click somebody in the member list, right-click their message, or use the button in the hover toolbar. Each service fills in what it keeps — IRC an idle time, a connect time, shared channels and their rank per channel; Discord the account's creation date and the day they joined the server; Matrix a power level and a last-seen. Verified live against ChanServ on coreirc, a Matrix user on poa.st, and a Discord member (account made 2016-04-08, joined that guild 2025-09-23).
